Wrapping Odd-Shaped Gifts
Okay, so you probably asked your kids, nephews, or nieces what gift they would
like to receive for a special occasion. Or maybe you bought many wonderful gifts
that you are sure will delight your recipient. The problem is, you cannot find
an appropriate box to put in and wrap those gifts. Not to worry! You can do away
with boxing as there are many boxless alternatives to gift-giving as the
following tips will show you.
* Put your items in a gift bag. Gift bags come in all different sizes and
design. They are usually made out of sturdy paper and are particularly useful
especially when giving out small items or individual items that you would like
to be included in a bundle. They are also capable of holding a considerable
amount of weight. Most gift bags come with gift tags on the handle, which
eliminates buying or making a separate card. Buy a monotone gift bag and
decorate it yourself using stickers, stamps or acrylic paint to add a unique and
stylish look. You can also use fabric gift bags made of linen as an alternative
to paper gift bags. These fabric gift bags usually have drawstring tops, which
are particularly useful for presenting bottled gifts. All you have to do is to
embellish them with decorative ribbons.
* Use gift baskets and wrapped it with decorative fabric to cover up the item(s)
inside. Adorn the basket handle with laced ribbon or bow. The fabric will serve
as an additional gift as well.
* Large items such as stuffed toys or animals can be wrapped in decorative
fabric sheets or blankets appropriate for the occasion. Tie the top with wired
ribbon and adorn with a bow. Again, the sheet or blanket will serve as an
additional gift as well.
* If you don't like the element of surprise or if you're recipient does not have
to be, then just adorn the actual item with ribbon. This would be particularly
true if the recipient do not have the ability to open a gift by himself/herself
(for instance, disabled children). You can just hand over your gift as it is so
that they can see it right away.
* Sometimes, special occasions call for special presentation. If you are giving
presents for Christmas, use a Christmas stocking as your gift bag. You can
decorate it and place your gifts inside.
* Empty paper towel or toilet paper rolls can be great alternative to boxes
especially if you are giving out small items that can fit into them. Just put
the item side the roll, stuff with tissue paper or any stuffing material and
wrap the empty roll with wrapping paper or any available fabric. The wrapping
paper or fabric must be longer than the empty roll so that you can tie it with
ribbons at both ends.
Note: Fragile items presented in Christmas stockings or fabric gift bags should
be well- cushioned before placing them with other items.
