Hanukkah Wrapping Paper
Hanukkah, known otherwise as the Festival of Lights, is a Jewish holiday
celebration, which lasts eight days and is celebrated in December, November or
early January (such as the case for the Hanukkah of 2005 & 2006). It is
celebrated by the kindling of lights on each of the festival's eight nights, one
on the first night, two on the second night and so on.
Historically, the commemoration of Hanukkah is symbolized by the menorah, one of
the oldest symbols of the Jewish people, which represent light. As such, when
choosing a gift-wrapping paper for suitable for Hanukkah, you should select
starry designs or other designs symbolical of light. White on blue, silver on
blue or white on silver wrapping papers are good choices. They will surely add
that aesthetic character to your gifts.
If your gifts are intended for kids and young adults, you can consider buying
cartoonish or painted wrapping papers that have star designs or menorah. Kids
typically like colorful designs and bright colors. However, do not limit
yourself to these ideas. You can use alternative materials to create a more
personalized gift-wrap such as brown kraft paper or used grocery bags. Use a
plain-colored gift wrapper, cut out star shapes or flame shapes, and paste them
on the wrapping paper. You can also paint the cutouts in different colors such
as yellow, red, blue and white for variation. Try using acrylic paint or
watercolor. This will surely enhance your gift.
Another alternative is to look for online shops that cater specifically to
printing wrapping papers with your own customized greetings. One such website is
PicturePaper (http://www.picturepaper.com) where you can order wrapping paper in
sheets or in rolls. If you have a decent printer, why not print your own custom
wrapping paper instead. However, most printers can only accommodate a maximum
width of 8.5" so this would call for taping multiple sheets into one big paper.
However you present your gift, what matters is the joy you receive in giving and
the thought that comes with it. Keeping the tradition of gift-giving fosters
good family values and encourages strong family ties and friendship.
